We are excited to highlight the outstanding work being done in Scotland, led by Zahra Hedges, CEO of Winning Scotland. In her recent article in the Herald, Zahra emphasized the importance of collaboration and community involvement in creating healthier, more supportive environments for young people.
As Zahra so eloquently explained, “The Planet Youth approach identifies factors which lead to risky behaviour while also recognising the best ways to tackle it. It’s not about saying no, it’s about the adults in teenagers’ lives – teachers, parents, communities – working together to create an environment where young people can thrive.”
Today, Zahra will be speaking at the Prevention in Practice: Making Scotland the Best Place to Grow Up event. This exciting gathering brings together a panel of experts, including our very own Margrét, to discuss how prevention strategies can be implemented in communities to create lasting, positive change.
The Planet Youth model thrives on collaboration, and the work in Scotland is a shining example of how community involvement can bring this approach to life. By engaging families, schools, and the local entities.
This event is a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from leaders in the field and explore how prevention can pave the way for a brighter, healthier future for our young people.
