Planet Youth continues its journey as a born global social innovation company. In 2022 we have hired some awesome people to increase our capacity in implementing the Guidance Program. We are now present in 16 different countries and will be adding even more next year.
Nicolas Barreiro joined us in January and will be focusing on developing and extending partner relationships. Nicolas is originally from Argentina but has been living in Iceland for years experiencing how the Icelandic Prevention Model works as a parent. Nico is a paddle master who will beat anyone so watch out.
Germán Jiménez Estrada also joined us in January and is based in Santiago, Chile. German works with project management support and has been involved in implementing community-based prevention models in Chile for years. Germán is the only member of the Latin American team who can handle the cold as well as the Icelanders. He proved that when snorkelling in Silfra this year.
Caine Meyers has been working part time with Planet Youth since last year but joined us as a full-time employee in February. Caine is originally from Canada and will be working with evaluation and analytics. He is a fantastic writer who is currently writing up the results from our evaluation projects.
Iryna Nerubaieva joined us in May this year. Coming from Ukraine she brings a lot of strength to the project management support function. She is also responsible for updating our social media. Iryna often brings very yummy home baked cakes to work which disappear quickly.
Margrét Lilja Guðmundsdóttir joined Planet Youth in November coming from a position at Reykjavik University. She has been working with primary prevention for decades and has been involved in the development the Icelandic Prevention Model from the beginning. She will be heading up the Knowledge management function focusing on training and knowledge sharing. Magga is also one of the best public speakers we have and is sought after in that role around the world. Her latest talk for example was in Kerala, India about primary prevention and youth substance use.
Francisco Gimeno Ruiz starts in December and will be working in project management. Originally from Spain he comes from a position at the Icelandic Red Cross and will be strengthening the team working with Latin American implementations. Francisco will be jumping in at the deep end, as his first day of work will be in Guanajato, Mexico where the entire team will be for the GTO conference 13-15th of December.
